Gary Barnes

Our December meeting will feature our own master woodcarver Gary Barnes, who will be demonstrating easy techniques for carving and embellishing larger projects like bowls and platters. Carving on your turnings is one of the hottest areas of interest in woodturning today. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to take your projects to the next level!

Special Note: Jim Rice has some Mahogany wood blanks for sale on the LSWA website in the private member area. Once you are on the main intro page in the private area, click on the Members “For Sale” Items for more information.

Remember to bring some of your recent projects: Be sure to bring some of your recent turned projects for our Show and Tell, or Show and Ask session. This can be a completed turning, or one that you are still working on. During our Show and Tell, you will have the opportunity to show your turning to the group and tell us a little about how you turned it, what finish you used and if you encountered any challenges when turning, sanding, or finishing the piece.

Everyone in the club is interested in what you've been doing at the lathe. If you need help with a project you're working on, bring it and let's discuss it during the Show and Ask session. There is a lot of experience in the club and everyone is always happy to help.

Invite your woodturning friends: Please invite any of your woodturning friends who you think may be interested in joining our club. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (Steve) at 713-826-0046 Cell. I'm looking forward to seeing you all at Woodcraft. Take care and best wishes to you and yours!
