January Demonstration |
This month’s demonstration will feature Barry Walter, who will be demonstrating how to prepare a unique writing pen made from fabric. How would you like a pen made from your grandpa's overalls, grandma's apron, your child's military uniform, or your grandchild's pajamas? Barry will demonstrate how to prepare and turn a fabric pen blank to do exactly that. Come learn the technique he developed to do this and maybe a few other tips as well.
Barry has turned dozens of pens of all types and materials including antler. His pens are of such quality that people want to buy the one he has, or order several. Barry is an accomplished woodcarver and he also turns bowls, ornaments and other projects and is skilled with the Ring Master. ![]() HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL! Hope you and your families had happy and safe holidays. The New Year has begun and Pati Hendriks' first task was to organize the addresses and schedules for the nice ladies who volunteered at the Christmas party to bring goodies for the monthly club meetings. THANK YOU PATI FOR YOUR HARD WORK, this was a wonderful idea! The following women are scheduled for cookies:
February - Wanda Barnes March - Alyce Aufdembrink April - Barbara Weaver May - Debby Hennessy June - June Pope July - Elaine Crawford August - Susan Allen September - Constance Greb October - Gill Deel November - OPEN (Panther Creek) December - OPEN (Christmas Party) Ladies, we will need cookies planned for 35-40 people remembering that we have several gentlemen who are diabetics, a special plate for them would be nice. Store bought cookies are great if you are pressed for time. I know many of you work outside of the home. Note: Pati went to Wal-Mart yesterday and noticed they have about six types of sugar-free cookies under $2.00. She does not bake sugar-free cookies and maybe others do not either, but it is a good idea to have at least one package available for those with dietary restrictions. If we have overlooked anyone who would like to help, or you need to change your schedule please give me a call – (281) 363 -3252. I will make a reminder call one to two weeks ahead of everyone's scheduled date. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH! Wanda and Pati Invite your woodturning friends: Please invite any of your woodturning friends who you think may be interested in joining our club. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (Steve) at 713-826-0046 Cell. I will look forward to seeing you all at Woodcraft. Take care and best wishes to you and yours!
