|This month we will feature one of our most requested events, a Tool Sharpening Mini-Retreat! If you’re having trouble with sharpening your woodturning tools, we have the solution… Attend our tool sharpening mini-retreat.|
Sharpening is “Woodturning 101.” If you cannot master sharpening, everything else you do at the lathe will be harder and you will spent a lot more time and money sanding. With a proper foundation in sharpening techniques, woodturning is easier and much more enjoyable.
Details: We will have several grinders setup, each complete with a sharpening jig and an instructor. You can bring two of your woodturning tools (see list below of eligible tools) and get hands-on experience on how to setup a dry grinder and use a sharpening jig to put a properly sharpened edge and grind profile on you tool.
Note: Due to time limitations, please bring no more than two of the following tools.
Please mark all of your tools with a Sharpie marker, or masking tape. Also, bring a full face shield and a dust mask. No members will be allowed to sharpen their tools without wearing a face shield. Dust masks are also highly recommended.
We will have a nice catered lunch available at the retreat with various deli sandwiches, chips, drinks and a desert from Jason’s Deli.
PLEASE RSVP using the link below and let me
know if you and/or your spouse will be attending.
Invite your woodturning friends: Please invite any of your woodturning friends who you think may be interested in joining our club. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (Steve) at 713-826-0046 Cell. I will look forward to seeing you all at Woodcraft for our Mini-Retreat. Take care and best wishes to you and yours! Cheers!
