April Demonstration
Spiral “Turning” on the
Legacy Ornamental Jig
Tom Anderson

Our April demonstration will feature Tom Anderson, who will be demonstrating how to use a router based ornamental mill to turn spirals and identical repeated elements on spindle projects. If you attended our December 2012 meeting, you will recall the spiral candlesticks Tom shared with us during his Show and Tell.

Tom will be using a router mounted on an early model Legacy Ornamental Mill for this informative demo. The Legacy Ornamental Mill uses a threaded feed shaft to move the router along the work piece as the blank rotates creating a spiral. Settings can be preserved and used to precisely duplicate coves, beads and other elements on the same work piece, or on multiple work pieces.

This demo will create a lot of chips and will be loud, so you should bring your Personal Protection Equipment  - safety glasses and ear protection (muffs or earplugs) for the demo.

If you’ve been looking for something new to add to your turned work, you should check out this very informative demo. One of the great things about woodturning is the ability to incorporate design elements on your projects that have been made with other woodworking tools and equipment. Start thinking outside the box and experiment with multi-tool design elements on your next project!

Invite your woodturning friends: Please invite any of your woodturning friends who you think may be interested in joining our club. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me (Steve) at 713-826-0046 Cell. I will look forward to seeing you all at Woodcraft. Take care and best wishes to you and yours!
