LSWA's May 2010 Meeting
Bring a Friend to the May Meeting!

Welcome to all of our new club members and guests! Our May 2010 club meeting will be held at the home of Pete Allen, LSWA’s Vice President, Saturday, May 22, 2010 starting at 8:30 a.m.

Note: A light lunch will be served following the meeting at 11:45 a.m.

We will be launching our first Membership Drive at the May meeting. To help kick off the event, please invite one of your woodturning friends who might be interested in joining the club to attend the May meeting. The membership drive will feature three great prizes, which will be awarded to the top three members who recruit the most new members during the contest period. More details will be available at the meeting.

May Discussion/Demonstration

Inlaying with Brian Greb

Our May meeting will feature one of our newest members, Brian Greb. Brian will be demonstrating his techniques for inlaying contrasting colored woods on bowls. He will also be showing a special jig he has developed for his inlays, as well as how to mount the project on the lathe for turning. If you attended the recent Woodworking Shows event, you were able to see some of Brian's inlayed woodturnings. You don't want to miss this special demonstration!

Remember to bring some of your recent projects: Be sure to bring some of your recent turned projects for our Show and Tell, or Show and Ask session. This can be a completed turning, or one that you are still working on. During our Show and Tell, you will have the opportunity to show your turning to the group and tell us a little about how you turned it, what finish you used and if you encountered any challenges when turning, sanding, or finishing the piece.

Everyone in the club is interested in what you've been doing at the lathe. If you need help with a project you're working on, bring it and let's discuss it during the Show and Ask session. There is a lot of experience in the club and everyone is always happy to help.
